University of South Australia Scholarships 2025-2026 are fully funded opportunities for international students, available for master’s and PhD programs. These scholarships provide tuition fee coverage, as well as a living allowance of at least $32,500 per year.
The University of South Australia offers the following scholarships to international applicants:
Research Training Program International (RTPi) Scholarships
The Research Training Program International (RTPi) Scholarships are funded by the Australian Government and awarded based on academic merit and research potential. These scholarships cover a stipend (living allowance) and a fee offset for a limited period.

Value
The RTPi Scholarship provides:
- A total stipend of at least $32,500 per year (2023 rate), paid fortnightly.
- Maximum duration:
- 3 years for PhD students.
- 2 years for Master of Research students.
- A fee-waiver for up to 3 years for PhD students and up to 2 years for Master of Research students.
- Overseas Student Health Cover (Singles Cover) with UniSA’s preferred provider, BUPA, for applicants requiring a student visa.
- A thesis allowance is available.

Enterprise Research Scholarship (ERS)
The Enterprise Research Scholarships (ERS) are funded by the University of South Australia and/or its partners. These scholarships are awarded to international students based on academic merit and research potential. The scholarships provide a stipend (living allowance) and a fee offset for a limited period.

International Research Tuition Scholarship (IRTS)
The International Research Tuition Scholarships (IRTS) are awarded to international students based on academic merit and proven research capability. These scholarships are designed for students who will receive full living stipend support from external funding sources, such as a recognized sponsor or external scholarship awarding body, during their degree.
Value
The IRTS provides a total fee-waiver for up to 4 years for PhD students and up to 2 years for Master of Research students. However, this scholarship does not include Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), which is a requirement for the student visa. Applicants are responsible for arranging and ensuring appropriate health cover for themselves and their family, if applicable.
Eligibility
In addition to meeting UniSA’s eligibility criteria, applicants must:
- Be commencing international research degree students.
- Have high academic quality with demonstrated research capability, as assessed by UniSA.
- Be supported by a strong supervisory panel, including an end-user adviser on the panel when appropriate, and be enrolled in a research-rich environment.
- Be in receipt of, or have been awarded, a fully externally funded stipend scholarship, or have a living stipend supported by external funding.
Note: The living stipend must be provided through an externally funded scholarship administered by the University or in agreement with an industry partner, sponsorship body, or organization.
How to apply
International students with an external sponsorship or scholarship are eligible to apply for any of the listed projects. However, some applicants may have additional conditions set by their sponsorship or scholarship provider and may need to develop their own project with a UniSA supervisor.
