The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) 2025 gives students from around the world a chance to study at the best universities in Korea. It helps them earn college degrees, share knowledge, and build strong friendships between Korea and other countries.
Period of Scholarship
Bachelor’s Degree Program: Takes 5-7 years
- 1 year to learn the Korean language

Associate Degree Program: Takes 3-4 years

Eligibility Criteria for GKS Scholarship 2025
Here are the rules to apply for the GKS Scholarship 2025, explained simply:
1. Nationality:
- You must be a citizen of a country chosen by NIIED to join the GKS program.
2. Education:
- For Bachelor’s Degree Program: You must have finished high school or an associate degree program, or you must graduate soon.
- For Associate Degree Program: You must have finished high school or will graduate soon.
- If you are graduating soon, you need to send a certificate saying you will graduate. If you pass the first round, you must send your official graduation certificate by December 31, 2024.
3. Grades (GPA):
- You need one of these:
- A score of 80% or higher (out of 100), or be in the top 20% of your class.
- A GPA of at least 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5, or 3.23/5.0.
4. Age:
- You must be under 25 years old (born after March 1, 2000).
5. Health:
- You must be in good physical and mental health to study in Korea.
Important Notes:
- If you already have a bachelor’s degree, you cannot apply.
- If you have an associate degree, you can only apply for a bachelor’s program.

This year, 367 students from all over the world will be chosen for the GKS Scholarship 2025 to study for Associate or Bachelor’s degrees.
- 87 students will be selected through the Embassy Track.
- 280 students will be chosen through the University Track.

Through the Embassy Track, 87 students will be selected this year, divided as follows:
- General Category: 71 students from 68 countries.
- Overseas Koreans: 7 students from 7 countries.
- IRTS (for Ukrainians): 9 students.

Embassy Track
- Applicants can select up to THREE different universities.
- You cannot choose three different departments within the same university.
- At least one of the selected universities must be a Type B university.
- If you list a Type A university in the Type B section, your application could be excluded from evaluation.
University Track
- Applicants must choose ONLY ONE university for their application.
Additional Points for GKS Scholarship 2025:
- TOPIK level 3 or higher: Applicants with this level will earn extra points, making up 10% of the total points.
- Descendants of Korean War veterans: Applicants who are direct descendants of foreign military personnel who served in the Korean War will receive an additional 5% of the total points.
- Extra points for language proficiency:
- Korean: Points will be awarded based on the TOPIK certificate level.
- English: Points will be awarded based on scores from valid English proficiency tests (like TOEFL or IELTS).
